How do dreams feel?

Today Kelsey pledged herself to the United States Army.

As I listened to the chorus of young men and women:
vow to uphold the Constitution of the United States,
vow to defend their country from all enemies, foreign and domestic,
vow to obey the orders of the President of the United States,
and vow to obey their direct commanders, so help me God.

As I watched these young men and women hug with smiles through their tears,  parents, siblings, wives, husbands, and friends.

I thought who would have thought that this is what a dream feels like.

Congratulations, Kelsey, Best of Luck, our love and prayers are with you.

It will be gone before you know it. The fingerprints on the wall appear higher and higher. Then suddenly they disappear.  —Dorothy Evslin

What did I learn?

After volunteering at the Crisis nursery for the first time?

-how can I leave them

-play dough is fun to play with

-if they are sad, you have to hold them

-cream cheese is better than crackers to 2 year olds

-please, sit by me until I go to sleep

-when you paint from your heart, you paint your dreams

-it’s important to have your own pillow and blankie

-if you are a silly monkey and tease the alligator, watch out

-read me a bed-time story

-where’s my mom

-if you help pick up the toys, you get a sticker

-we all have to go to the bathroom, again

-is it Friday yet

I am thankful for the family I am blessed to be a part of.

Volunteering

I passed my TB test and the background check (I wasn’t too worried). So I start volunteering at the Sacramento Children’s Home -Crisis Nursery next Friday evening, July 10th. I am looking forward to this new “adventure”. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time and the time has finally come.
